We are really excited to share the news that our volunteer passport course is now well underway and fully subscribed.

Our 6-week course of accredited free training for people who currently volunteer locally, or want to get into volunteering, started on Tuesday 25 September 2018 at Auckland Youth and Community Centre.

Initial feedback from attendees has been very positive, with everyone agreeing that it’s also a great way to meet new people, learn and develop new skills and interests, whilst also giving back to your community.

The remaining 5 sessions will take place on Tuesdays from 10 am to 1 pm on the following dates:

  • 2 October
  • 9 October
  • 16 October
  • 30 October
  • 6 November

John Wiseman, Business Development Manager at Auckland Youth and Community Centre, said “We are really excited to be hosting this, our first-ever Volunteer Passport training scheme at our Community Centre. We are really pleased to see places being taken so quickly and we are sure that all participants will enjoy the 6-weeks and take lots of new skills and ideas from it, whilst also meeting like-minded people and having some fun along the way.

It is another excellent example of the way in which our centre is expanding its offer and helping give confidence to people who might want to volunteer in their local community (ideally with us) but don’t always know where to start, or what volunteering might involve.

I would like to thank the many partner organisations who have worked with us to make the Volunteer Passport scheme a reality. It is especially pleasing to make this scheme accessible to our local community here on Woodhouse Close.

Whilst this course is fully subscribed, we are taking names for a possible course in early 2019. If you are interested in attending please get in touch with us on 01388 604575 or by contacting us.
